The depth of Lake Tazawa
Lake Tazawa's depth is 423.4 meters, making it the deepest lake in Japan. The legendary 'Statue of Tatsuko' is located on its western shore. The lake, hot spring and highlands surrounding it make this area popular with tourists.

Tallest virgin cedar tree
A 58-meter tall 250 year-old virgin cedar stands in a protected forest in Nibuna Mizusawa, Futatsui Town.

Tsuzureko Drum
The Tsuzureko Drum Festival is a traditional event held in Tsuzureko, Takanosu Town, where two groups in the town compete to make larger and larger drums. The largest drum has a diameter of 3.71 meters and a head made from a single cattle skin. The Guinness Book of Records recognizes it as the world's largest drum.

Korakukan
Korakukan was built in 1910 and is Japan's oldest unaltered drama theater. It is very rare because it combines Japanese and Western architecture. Plays are still performed there from spring-autumn.
Water supply of Tamagawa hot spring
Tamagawa hot spring is located in Hachimantai. Its waters are highly acidic, with a pH of 1.2. One of its sources delivers around 9000 liters of water per minute, more than any other hot spring source in Japan. The hot spring is also known for its healing properties, so many people come from all over Japan to bathe in its waters.

Akita butterbur
The leaf of an Akita butterbur is so large that you can use it as an umbrella. The plant's stalk is over 1.5 meters long and its leaves are over 1.3meters wide.

Wide acreage per farming household in Ogata Village
In 1964, Ogata Village was founded by reclaiming land from Hachirogata Lagoon, formerly Japan's second largest lake. One lot of the paddy field is 140 meter by 90 meter. Acreage par farming household is 12 lots, that is, about 15 hectares. This is 11 times as wide as the average acreage of a farming house in Japan.

Odate Jukai Dome
The dome is 178 meters long and 157 meters wide with a height of 52 meters. The gross floor area is 24,672 square meters ,making it one of the world's largest wooden domes.
